News, Press Releases and Examples of Intersoft RFID in Use

For more than eighteen years, Intersoft Corp. has been providing customers worldwide with innovative RFID products to maximize productivity and minimize costs. Here are brief descriptions of our accomplishments:

  • Intersoft custom antenna, readers and tags are used for Residence Time Distribution studies in food processing. According to the authors " the affordable cost of instrumentation combined with the cost savings associated with a much smaller run time and therefore product quantity should make RFID a very popular method for RTD measurement in the industry" . Couldn't have said it better ourselves !
  • A manufacturer of museum quality resin sculptures has been embedding Intersoft's RFID tags into each piece while also engraving it with a serial number. Recently a piece was being sold by the thief who had removed the engraved serial number preventing visual authentication however they didn't know about the embedded tag. It was used to recover the artwork and uncover the theft. See press release.
  • Intersoft announces soon to be released new active sensors. The sensor transmits either an analog or digital real-world,  real-time value and operates for several years on a single battery. The sensors are in final testing this quarter and will be available for sale in 2Q2010.
  • Intersoft Corporation technology is used in the first-of-its-kind rapid personnel muster system in the Gulf of Mexico’s oil and gas industry.
A major oil and gas company uses personnel logistics software by Logica Systems Inc., and Intersoft Corporation’s RFID hardware to manage the arrivals, departures and emergency muster of personnel at an offshore Gulf of Mexico facility.
Upon arrival at the facility, personnel receive Intersoft’s FOBBRO tags. During muster, personnel pass their tags across Intersoft’s
TRR01WM readers and explosion proof readers.  Real-time muster activity appears on a computer monitor in the facility's command center and the logistics officer quickly identifies any missing personnel.
  • Two large semiconductor manufacturers (combined revenues of US$5.7 billion) have adopted a customized version of the HHRO1USB readers in their production facility for tracking wafer carriers (FOOP etc.)  and other tools. The use of RFID instead of bar codes reduced errors and increased processing speed. Intersoft customized its existing readers in less than 2 weeks and supplied production quantities in less than 4 weeks, permitting the companies to move quickly with this new technology.
  • A major European meat processor (US$225M+) purchased thousands of Intersoft Corp RFID food tubs  for their new 120,000 sqft production center in the UK. The technology provides state-of-the-art trimming operation and helps meet strict food traceability regulations.
  • Our new cutting-edge material allows longer read distances when tags are placed on metal. Even with a spacer thickness of as little as 0.01”, it  can restore full read range with some tag/reader systems.
  • Our epoxy disk tags have been pressure tested up to 800 PSI (55 atm, 5,515 kPa). That's more than 1,500 feet under sea water. These can be used in marine research, data collection, theft deterrent, and fishery monitoring.
  • A custom meat processor uses our RFID food totes in their highly-automated processing plant. This streamlines trimming and processing—reducing time and cost.
  • A $500 million company was unable to obtain replacements for their legacy Indala Industrial readers and tags. Because Intersoft Corp. designs and manufactures its products, we were able to provide a ‘drop-in’ solution at low cost in less than a month. They were able to retain their old software, and are now running both systems seamlessly on the same production line. They are steadily replacing their old system with our custom readers and stock tags.
  • A customer in France has been using our technology and products in the cattle industry, managing and feeding their herds with fully-automated processes. The breeder can maintain weight records computerize health records and vaccinations and establish marketing and genetic-performance data. The tags can be used to provide permanent identification of the animal for its entire lifetime. Automatic recording of ID numbers reduces labor costs and minimizes paperwork required for efficiency and regulatory compliance, and increases payment on yield and grade.
  • RFID technology is also being used in the marine industry: For a firm in Canada, we developed custom readers and provided tags that were low cost and appropriate for a marine environment. More than 50,000 assets are tagged and used to monitor near-shore fish habitat inventories via data collection, reporting and analysis.
  • An equipment manufacturer for the clothing industry uses Intersoft's products for inventory and control of raw materials, pattern development, cutting, sewing, and finished goods. We developed a reader that satisfied all of their requirements, and determined the appropriate tag for the process, which resulted in overall improved efficiency and quality control.
  • The largest quick-serve drive-in chain restaurant in the USA uses our readers and tags for carhop cash control. We rapidly customized one of our off-the-shelf reader to interface to their POS system. Our tags are used in a custom wrist band that is rugged and comfortable.
  • Another customer has implemented our products in their automated guided vehicles (AGV): a material-handling system for high-volume transport, management, control and storage. They are being used in automotive, tractor, and motorcycle factories.
